Historical Sires

Brixton

Brixton is an exceptionally quiet pure Warnham, both in the paddock and in the shed. His father, ’The Sultan’, won both the 3 year and open sections of the National Velvet Competition. Brixton’s dam (99388) is a full sister to ’Murchison’ which won the 4 year sectio in 2003 cutting 7.6kg SA. Brixton cuts a classic head of velvet but sadly he scratched it in some wire, and it couldn’t be entered in any competition. Like his father and grandfathers, I’m sure he will get better and better with age. First progeny sold 2009 with top son lot 19going to Murray Tyson. Brixton now belongs to Alf Kinzett.

Bun Bun's Pinicle

Bun Bun is named after a very productive crayfishing pinicle just south of the Sisters on the Chatham Islands. Bun Bin is sired by Thomas Albert from a Terrance Stirling hind, 9482. Importantly, all his brothers and sisters have preformed remarkebly well. He is quiet both in the paddock and the shed. Bun Bun has excellent antler confirmation, which is often lacking in some English breeds today. First sons available 2008. Bun Bun now belongs to Mark Kane.

Thomas Albert

Thomas Albert is truly exceptional pure Warnham Stag. As a 2 year old he cut 9.26kg of hard antler stripped, with 26 points. Poor health after the rut and wet weather combined to reduce the expected 3yr velvet cut to 5.2kg SA which put him with one of many. But as a 4yr old Thomas Albert redeemed himself by producing a head of velvet over 2kg heavier than the previous year, and continued on to cut 8.2kg at 5yrs and 8.8 at 6yrs.

Thomas Albert’s velvet has consistancy of thickness of beam above the tray tyne. He has markedly increased the velvet production every year which is also evident in his sons.

Thomas Albert has produced an amazing lineup of sons from his first drop. ’Batesy’,belonging to Alf Kinzett of Murchison, has cut 5.97kg SAII at 3 years. ’Tom’ ,owned by John Hunter of Springs Junction, cut 5.5kg SAII at 3 years and ’Enoch’,belonging to Pete Fraser, has cut 5.5kg SAII at 3 years.

Batesy cut 7.6kg SAII at only 4 years of age and won the 4yr section at the National Velvet Competition. Congradulations to Alf for also taking out the National Red Deer Super Heavy Weight title with Buller cutting 11.89kgSA. (Buller was bred by Cloudy Bay/AI)

Sadly Thomas Albert was moved to a trophy park in 2007 and scored a remarkable 513 2/8 SCI and 292.17 CIC.
A true all rounder for both velvet and trophy.

Heinrich V

Heinrich was generally regarded as the best preforming Hungarian stag to have been imported into New Zealand, and is the sire of such exceptional sires as Heinrich III, Heinrich V, Lazlo, Novi and dozens more. Dam 47 was the best preforming pure Eastern dam in New Zealand. She is the mother of Leopould II, Tito II, Heinrich II, III, IV and V. All had exceptional growth rates nad very good antlers. At 25 yrs she finally produced a daughter by Heinrich, which we also owned. Heinrich V from the cross of these two exceptional animals has it all. The temperament of his offspring are generally excellent and a pleasure to handle in the shed. Any farmer needing to improve hind temperament would achieve this using Heinrich V bloodlines. Heinrich V has the best growth rates to 18 months of age of any stag that Stanfield has ever produced. He had a weaning weight of 85kgs which importantly also targets calving date and mothering ability. By mid November at just over 12 months he weighed in at 157kgs. Heinrich V has a very large and well conformed rack of antlers. These genetics are ideal for crossing with English hinds for increasing the velvet length and breeding trophies. Sadly Heinrich V passed away late in the winter of 2008.
